Doctors are among those people we count on and we should trust. We rely on them when it comes to problems concerning health issues that are why it is important to find a good one that you and your loved ones can truly come to whenever you need help. But the problem is how do we know that he is capable and he can be trusted? Every year, there are cases of doctor malpractice that occur not juts only in some hospitals but all over the world. There are records that can prove that even doctors make mistakes and commit errors so the public should be well informed about this.

You have to be aware that there are some fake doctors around. They are considered fake because there license to practice has been revoked because of malpractice. They are no longer capable of having their duty because they are not considered safe. If you happen to encounter these doctors then you are putting your life as well as those of your loved ones at risk. And because this situation is getting out of hand, it is highly recommended that when you are looking for a private doctor you check his or her malpractice records. In that way, you will never become a victim.

What these doctor malpractice records contain are some of the important information that you must know about the doctor you are about to employ. You will discover thee facts about his life like which school he attended, the period when he practiced his profession and the malpractice cases that he was involved in. because doctors are also humans, all of them could have done some malpractices so it is your right as a patient to know what these are. It is not illegal if you wan to know about your doctor’s personal life because we are talking about risking our life to the hands of these people. So it is just proper that we do some checking first.

These fake doctors are criminals. They are being looked for by the authority and must penalized for their wrong doings. If you have doubts with regards to your doctor, you may do some research online and find out if he is involved in malpractice. They sure have records there that you can also rely on. Be careful with fake records though. You will know if the site is fake anyway but for your safety better look up at the Government resources. There, you will know if your doctor is true or fake.

LOS ANGELES (AP) Prosecutors in the manslaughter trial against Michael Jackson’s personal physician are keeping jurors focused on the doctor’s phone records from the day the King of Pop died, attempting to show that Dr. Conrad Murray was trying to juggle his medical practice, personal life and superstar patient all at the same time.

Testimony Monday was heavily centered on the calls Murray made and received on June 25, 2009, with witnesses ranging from the Houston-based cardiologist’s patients, a doctor seeking advice and a woman who had dated Murray.

To this point, witnesses have been relatively brief, filling in prosecutors’ timeline of the hours leading up to Jackson’s death. Two people who phoned Murray that morning offered glowing appraisals of the doctor accused of involuntary manslaughter in connection with Jackson’s death.

Jurors have yet to hear from two other women with whom Murray was romantically involved, though both could testify as early as Tuesday. Sade Anding has previously said she was on the phone with Murray shortly before noon when he became distracted and put the phone down without hanging up. Prosecutors are expected to also call Nicole Alvarez, who had a child with Murray and whose apartment he used to ship orders of the anesthetic propofol.

Phone records displayed in court Monday showed Murray called Alvarez four times the afternoon of Jacksons’ death, including once while he was in the ambulance with Jackson’s lifeless body on the way to the hospital.

Murray has pleaded not guilty. Authorities contend he gave the singer a lethal dose of propofol and other sedatives. Murray’s attorneys claim Jackson gave himself the fatal dose. If convicted, Murray faces four years behind bars and the loss of his medical license.

The phone records have revealed the special relationship Murray kept with his patients. Houston-based Dr. Joanne Prashad told jurors she called Murray the morning of Jackson’s death to inquire whether it would be safe to operate on a patient whom Murray had treated. Prashad said she was surprised that Murray remembered the patient and the exact dosage of medicine that he was taking.

Murray’s lead defense attorney Ed Chernoff asked Prashad whether Murray’s recall was unusual for a doctor.

She said yes. “I was impressed,” Prashad said.

Another patient, Antoinette Gill, told jurors she had called Murray’s cell phone for a referral on June 25, 2009, but didn’t reach him.

Neither did Bridgette Morgan, a former lover who, according to court documents, called Murray to follow up on his promise to purchase her a plane ticket for her birthday. Her relationship with Murray was not discussed in front of jurors. Superior Court Judge Michael Pastor ruled earlier this year that prosecutors could not describe the relationship Murray had with certain women or how he met them.

The records overall reveal a doctor who was on his phone a lot in the hours before Jackson’s death. Another former patient, Robert Russell, testified that the doctor had returned a phone message to him at 11:49 a.m. just 15 minutes or so before he emerged from Jackson’s bedroom frantically seeking help.

He had been on the phone with his medical practice for 32 minutes before that, and was also sending emails about his $150,000 a month contract to serve as Jackson’s personal physician during a planned series of comeback concerts.

Five of the eight witnesses called Monday testified about Murray’s phone records.

Jurors also heard from two emergency room doctors who interacted with Murray after Jackson was taken to Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

Both doctors said Murray never mentioned giving Jackson propofol.

Cardiologist Dr. Thao Nguyen said Murray didn’t provide much information about his treatment of Jackson, but urged doctors to try everything they could to revive him.

“Dr. Murray asked that we not give up easily and try to save Michael Jackson’s life,” she said. “. In Dr. Murray’s mind, if we called it quits, we would be giving up easily.”

In the end, Nguyen and colleague Dr. Richelle Cooper told jurors, Jackson was dead by the time he arrived in the emergency room and nothing more could be done.

Poor posture and weak neck and back muscles have been determined to be the main culprits that are responsible for chronic headaches and neck pain according to Santa Monica chiropractor, Dr. Dean Goodman, D.C. In his thirty years of practice, Dr. Goodman has helped thousands of patients to recover from conditions that failed to respond to drugs and other forms of treatment. Dr. Goodman cites numerous studies that have concluded that Spinal Manipulation is recommended for neck pain and headaches, including troublesome migraine headaches. Several randomized controlled trials have been conducted to assess the efficacy of chiropractic adjustments and manipulation for neck pain using various methods. Results from most studies suggest that 8 to 15 sessions of spinal manipulative therapy administered over 3 to 6 weeks achieve equivalent or superior improvement in pain and function when compared with other commonly used interventions, such as physical therapy, medication, education, or exercise, for short, intermediate, and long-term follow-up.

Many patients spend far too many hours sitting at work stations focused on their computer monitors. They often sit in chairs that do not provide adequate support for their backs or necks. Often they are looking at monitors that are positioned too high or too low. They may also be using a mouse or stylus that is too high with resulting stress on neck and shoulder muscles. The resulting postural strain can irritate nerves and fatigue muscles. The postural stress of multi-tasking is compounded by the stress of many hours sitting in a car navigating through ever-increasing traffic. The result is neck and back tension that is relentless and and accumulative.

Impaired nerve signals and muscle fatigue and weakness lead to a variety of symptoms. Dr. Goodman has found that chiropractic care, especially when used in conjunction with strengthening exercises and postural awareness, can bring relief to patients suffering with neck pain, neck pain, headaches and joint pain. Many patients who have been diagnosed with carpal tunnel syndrome actually suffer from nerve impingement that is related to spinal misalignment and poor posture. Not every patient will respond quickly to chiropractic correction, but most patients will discover that spinal manipulative therapy and strengthening exercises will enable them to reduce their dependence on pain medication and will also enable them to continue on a path toward the management and control of their symptoms so that they can work more effectively and still enjoy their leisure time. Dr. Goodman practices in Santa Monica, California and is available for consultation and treatment. He and his staff take the time to offer a personal approach to re-educate patients in how they can develop new habits that re-inforce the correction of misalignment and poor posture. Many of his patients have tried massage, acupuncture and physical therapy, but have not received the benefits that they experience with his unique chiropractic approach. In addition to maintaining a busy practice, Dr. Goodman frequently lectures about health and personal fitness. He has run 27 marathons and recently completed the 2010 Boston Marathon and Portland Marathon.

			QUESTION:
Looking for a really good chiropractor in Los Angeles?
Hi, I’m looking for a good chiropractor in LA, really anywhere in the city is fine. My main complaint with my last one was that he would hardly spend any time on me at all when I came for adjustments, and still didn’t know my name after several months of seeing him. I guess I’m mainly looking for someone more personal. If you’ve had a really good experience I’d love to know where! Thanks!

				ANSWER:
Mine is Boris Mayzels of Downtown LA:

call him at: 213-481-1400

He did my first visit at and thereafter, which I find to be standard. He’s a big guy with a lot of leverage, yet he’s gentle at the same time.

			QUESTION:
Is it easy to get a job in Los Angeles if you are a Chiropractor?
or to have your own practice? Preferably in the Santa Clarita/ San Fernando Valley area?

				ANSWER:
Chiropractors typically have their own practice. With the recession making California the state with the 3rd highest unemployment rate in the country there is plenty of vacant office space available. If you’re considering coming to California to open a Chiropractic office consider that California is a VERY UNfriendly state toward businesses. It has very high taxes, and draconian environmental and work rule restrictions on how you run your business. Why do you think so many companies have moved to neighboring states like Arizona, Nevada, and Utah??

			QUESTION:
can anyone recommend a chiropractor in los angeles/california who will accept medi- cal- same for acupuncture?
i have a degenerative issue with my spine that needs to seriously be addressed by a professional chiropractor. unfortunately i am unemployed and disable and only covered by medi-cal. it is difficult finding any kind of healthcare with such limited insurance, and even more frustrating that my health issues have progressed/declined because i haven’t been able to find anyone who will treat me, in spite of their diagnosis that I need serious help- due to most providers not accepting medi-cal. If anyone knows of a good/professional/compassionate chiropractor, and or acupuncturist (because I need to get some acupuncture treatment as well-) that accepts medi-cal- and or may even take on pro-bono cases- could you please let me know with any referrals/suggestions? Thank you! – Very much in pain and would like to restore my health- so I can work again!!!!

Hi there, good luck and congratulations in advance! I have a few friends that went to Cleveland and are doing great. That is the one that comes to my mind the quickest and am familiar with it because of them. I have also heard of SCUHS and have one friend in San Francisco that attended Life, so I think you are on the right track so far! I myself would probably choose Cleveland….No bones about it LOL! (But that’s just an opinion) However, check them all out before you commit….There are so many. QUESTION:
Why Would a Chiropractor Try To Rape a Patient?
Why Would a Chiropractor Try To Rape a Patient?
Can you tell the the psychology of a chiro to that would try to rape his patient ( could it be drugs, mental illness, or worse or a combination of both)

He held an innocent woman for six hours as a hostage against her will…

She tried to get out 3 times but he would try to grab or block her.
He is six feet tall and a wrestler, and he told his patient that he goes to a 12 step program is being treated for mental illness.

His behavior would change from straight to enraged his eyes would turn into devil’s eyes when he got violent… and his manner would change and he was very threatening…..

Just curious how could this sick bastard practice when he nearly tried to rape me.

How can this sick bastard live with himself?
2 minutes ago – 4 days left to answer.
Additional Details
He NEVER even treated me……another chiro did.

So, why did he single me out to attempt to rape me?

Yes, he was reported to the board, state, and police, but they said he would have to rape or do something to me to make it more effective………………

So a sick man walks……………………..He is in Burbank, Los Angeles.
THIS IS A TRUE STORY………

			QUESTION:
Can you relate to Alan Harper (Jon Cryer) from Two and a Half Men? Any similar situations or incidents?
“Jon Cryer as Alan Jerome Harper, Charlie’s twice-divorced chiropractor brother, who is more conscientious than his brother, but continually stricken with bad luck and teased by Charlie. After losing his house to his wife Judith in the divorce process, he resides with Charlie. He is generally a nice and polite person, but seems to have a weakness for women who treat him poorly, which may stem from the non-nurturing relationship he had with his and Charlie’s mother”.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Two_and_a_half_men

Alan has been divorced twice, and has to pay huge alimony, to the point where he becomes almost broke. He is a Chiropractor in Los Angeles with his own office, and yet he still comes off as a poor guy. Is this possible? I know that people have to pay alimony, but is it possible for someone to pay so much that they are practically ripped? His ex-wife Judith seems to be a real b***h, and constantly keeps ripping him, going to the extent of making his second wife go against him. The way the show has treated Alan, makes him look like a wuss. Even after so many years, he is still a loser. He met someone good, and kind later in the show (his receptionist), but the writer(s) made him sleep with her mom, so he goes nowhere with his life.

Back to the original question, can you relate to him anyway? Did someone rip you off so much? Do you feel just as miserable? If so, please share. No idiotic comments or stupid remarks please. Thanks.

				ANSWER:
Hey I love that show! But yea I do feel sympathy for him, although I havnt gone through a divorce, I do have felt getting treated bad by women, and am constantly struggling to live day by day knowing damn well everything goes bad for me relationship wise and now I’ve become socially introverted. At least I have a great job, too bad I work with my Ex-girlfriends mother though, which has made my relationship with my ex as spmetimes buddies, to sometimes strangers.

			QUESTION:
My Jewish Friends: Do you try to “keep it in the tribe”?
Now I don’t want any fuss about this, because nobody here can tell me that they actually don’t make any effort to patronize folks from their church, mosque, etc.

We don’t all have the luxury of having Jewish businesses around us, but I live in Los Angeles and I’ve had the opportunity to have a Jewish chiropractor, doctor, dentist, printer, jeweler, etc.

How much of an effort do our other Jews put in? Does it give you a good feeling?

Again, I will not tolerate any hateful remarks. I and my contacts will definitely report you in short order, I can promise you.
Lillian, if you don’t understand the question, then don’t waste our time. Obviously it wasn’t intended for you.
Aw, c’mon Bonger, can’t you play fair you weak-minded soul?

And yeah, reported. And proud of it.

				ANSWER:
Yeah, I don’t mind supporting my brothers and sister in the tribe. ( :
That’s one of the reasons why we have lasted and survived for so long is because we support each other. And as long as we keep supporting each other we’re going to keep on surviving and thriving for another 4,000 years.

			QUESTION:
Car Accident – She ran a red light and wrecked my car. I got a lawyer. How long till settlement?
I was going eastbound across an intersection on a green light. I was crossing a busy street (4 lanes in each direction). Two cars heading eastbound ahead of me had already made it through safely. I was about 3.5 lanes in when a lady going southbound runs the red light and comes speeding at me. I hit the brakes so she won’t hit me directly in the driver’s side door. She hits me in the front left side of my car at about 40+ mph and I go spinning 90 degrees.

My shoulder slams into the side of my door and then my head hits the glass. The glass doesn’t break.

A police officer comes to help. He takes our insurance information and our statements. He goes back to his police car for 10 minutes and then comes over to hand me a piece of paper that has all her info on it. On the back of the paper, it says “A Los Angeles Police Department report is not required and has not been made.”

Tow trucks are called. I receive a phone call from her insurance company almost immediately, but I don’t answer it because I’m speaking with my own insurance company. My car is towed and may be wrecked. Her car has minor damage to the bumper and hood, but doesn’t seem to have any internal damage.

I went to the emergency room that night to get x-rays. Nothing was broken and I got a prescription for muscle relaxants.

I get a lawyer the next day and do not speak with her insurance company at all. I began going to a chiropractor for physical therapy for my shoulder. I’ve also gone to the doctor another time to get a painkiller prescription for my shoulder and headaches I’m getting. All of the visits are paid on a lien basis.

I do not have any witnesses because I was in shock and wasn’t thinking straight. It was almost two weeks ago, so I’m going to post up flyers in the area to see if anybody saw anything.

In instances like this, how long does it take to get paid by the insurance company? I’m in between jobs, so I’m not sure if I get lost wages. But I work piecemeal jobs as a background actor and this has prevented me from working. What is a reasonable amount to expect in a case like this?

				ANSWER:
In my opinion, hiring a lawyer was not necessary and will only drag the case on and on. You had many free lawyers at your disposal from your own insurance company. Getting witnesses, probably will do no good because insurance companies are the ones who determine “fault”. Lawyers can only fight their decision. In any case no settlement will be even offered, if offered at all, until all of your medical treatment is finished.

			QUESTION:
I need help! How can I help myself financially w/ a condition that hinders my life? (pls read detail)?
I need to know how I can help myself financially because I have a condition that has prevented me from working and being reliable.

Condition: Since I was 14 (now 27) I have had mitral valve prolapse, which isn’t too serious but in my case its noticeable and is a trigger for a domino effect symptoms. Mitral valve is when a valve in my heart pumps backwards and for me I feel a very hard pounding and sometimes it pumps a bit faster than normal which makes my breath hard to catch. This always triggers a response of my adrenal gland. The doctors told me that the heart prolapse triggers my adrenal gland to over produce adrenaline. This makes me very dizzy to where its very hard to focus and I can barely walk. I have had this happen in a car before and the dizziness impairs me from driving. Usually all of this causes me to have a migraine and then I’m not well for hours and sometimes days.

Doctors recently told me that I should work around this because there is no pill that will make it go away. I have had all sorts of misdiagnosed medicines through the years because doctors did not know exactly what it was at first. I had cardiologists have me on Inderol and other palpitation medications. I had neurologists put me on Zoloft and every kind of anxiety type medication which I was taken off of because it didn’t seem to be helping for years. The whole “spell” that I like to call it usually happens as soon as I open my eyes in the morning but can happen throughout the whole day. It always happens when anything changes in my body. If I’m sick with the flu/cold or menstruating it happens even more. Doctors say its triggered when anything is off in my body. We have tried eating as soon as I wake up, different sleep patters, different diet, exercise and been tested to see if its low blood sugar. One thing I think could be related is my spine. I have sculiosis (curvature of the spine) and my back seems to be out a lot. Back and neck pain. I would go to a chiropractor but I do not have the finances to do so.

I am a very hard worker and have had experience as a personal assistant & sales & am currently a piano teacher with less than a handful of students. I like to think I am reliable because I want to work but my condition makes it impossible to get to work sometimes. This has caused a vicious cycle of me being the perfect worker until I have had too many sick days and I end up finding something else because it is unfair to my employer who needs someone to work. Luckily I have never been fired over it but it has definitely put hinderances on my life, goals, and finances. At the moment I have less than & no proper clothing but my poor fiance is helping with food. My car payment is on hold and my parents are unable to help me in any way. I am in the process of trying to find a legit home job where I can make regular money like 0-300 a week. Its hard to find a legit home based job that you do not have to invest in. I just found out there are virtual assistants that work from home though. I am looking into it but even though I’m in Los Angeles its a hard position to come by.

A couple of years ago I applied for disability and got rejected because I didn’t have recent pay stubs. A lot of my jobs were personal assistant jobs so I didn’t have record of work. I have record now but I’m unsure if I would qualify. The regulation I believe is that you need to report the disability as it happens, so since mine started so long ago I’m not sure I can be accepted because I have worked with my condition. My doctor records are from years ago so I’m not sure if I would have to have new ones. I do not have health insurance at this time.

So I am asking what government programs, benefits would I qualify for? What should I do? If anyone has any thoughts, ideas, questions or comments please share them. I need help! Thank you for reading through this.

				ANSWER:
Hi Amy. I am disabled also, with Rheumatoid Arthritis & Coronary Artery Disease. I just had a quadruple bypass two months ago. If you want to work from home, there is a site that lists prescreened jobs. I found this site through the government’s website for the disabled. It’s called Rat Race Rebellion.

http://www.ratracerebellion.com/

This is the link to the Social Security Administration’s Benefit Eligibility Screening Tool.

I was approved the first time I applied for disability, however, I am much older than you. I used an attorney. I did not have to pay anything upfront. The firm took their fee out of my benefits upon approval. I used the law firm of Binder & Binder. They were wonderful & answered my many questions, regardless of how many times I called them during the process.

I wish you all the luck in the world. I can surely sympathize with your heart problems. God bless!

			QUESTION:
Looking for a Talent Agent who is ready for me!?
I am a 17 year old Native American/Mexican/Costa rican/Chilean/Mix who resides in Los angeles, looking for a talent agent- I’d like to be an extra/character in plays, movies, television shows, music videos,

I was born with Natural beauty that i still claim- Big,Brown eyes, Brown skin- Blackish/Brunette hair. Nicely shapen lips with a certain colour, Very long eyelashes, Bad posture that is currently being corrected by biweekly visits to the Chiropractor. Petite Physique, Considered ‘Under weight’ or as some rude people like to say ‘Perfect Model candidate despite her height’. My height is 5′ 2″ and 1/2.

I prefer not to wear make up- because in my heart i believe that natural beauty is a great treasure. But i know Makeup is not optional in the Film/ Entertainment Industry. I would one day dream to find a role where i won’t need to cover my face in “fake cake” but it is a given that it’s a non existent role.

I share many qualities with Jim Carrey.
I tell great jokes, i am a talented painter/drawer/sketcher/Mac genius/Commonly proclaimed Comedian.
I am usually negative, but that’s due to mood.
I am very unique- i have very exotic interests- Being a future Parasitologist for instance.

I have been to John Robert Powell (Not interested in correcting any mistakes toward the company name) who was interested in me very much, but asked for 10,000$ for training. But like many other people, i was not willing to pay to show the world my talents.

I believe true talent is discovered- Not paid for being Discovered.
I have not had any training- i have of course been in school plays, but no major roles, i have been to film camps where i create a movie, i created one script for a movie that i directed myself (Har, what an accomplishment, huh?)
But how DO i get training? is another question.
Like i said, i’ve been to John robert powell and they wanted me to pay 10,000$ but i am in no financial situation to shell out that much, especially in this bad time of the economy.

				ANSWER:
John Robert Powers is a scam! Good training (see list below) costs NO WHERE near k!

To get an agent, you need to get GREAT headshots, a good resume, and training from the best. These are enough to get you a commercial agent at least. Getting a GOOD theatrical agent (Film/tv) takes longer. Most good theatrical agents won’t see you unless you’re SAG, have a polished resume, and a demo reel. Commercial agents are more lenient about that. What the best Commercial agents want to see on your resume are good commercial classes, improv, and cold reading.

You can get an agent multiple ways. Here are a few common ways:
-Mail in an unsealed manilla envelope with a CONCISE coverletter and headshot with the resume stapled on the back. If you have a demoreel include that too.
-Attend a showcase and impress them. By showcase I do not mean scammy conventions like IMTA, IPOP, Proscout, or Best New Talent. I mean legit ones like at Actor Connection, Reel pros, Network Studios, etc.
-Get a referral from a friend who is with the agency that you’re interested in

DON’T
-Email them unless they tell you to. IT’S UNPROFESSIONAL!
-Call unless they tell you to. ALSO UNPROFESSIONAL!
-Walk in and ask for a meeting. UNPROFESSIONAL THREE!
-Sign with them if they ask for upfront money, make you take new photos with THEIR photographer, or take THEIR classes. Agent’s ONLY make money when you do. Agents usually make 10% on film/tv and commercials and 20% on commercial print.

			QUESTION:
wrote an essay… need a grade?
Okay so this is for an outside reading book. The essay question i got was “What is a conflict in your book that had a surprising resolution? Explain the conflict, resolution, and why the resolution was surprising.

One of Those Hideous Books Where the Mother Dies

                                   By Sonya Sones

Imagine having a wonderful life, a life with a great parent, great friends, and a great boyfriend. The main character of this book, Ruby Milliken, had all these things up until the day it was all taken away by the death of her mother. And she was forced to fly across the country to move in with a famous movie star father that she hasn’t known for her entire life. In fact the only times she had ever seen him was at the cinemas, where he starred in all the big time blockbusters. Ruby is forced to move across the country to Los Angeles to live with a complete stranger. A.k.a. her father, and things are going to be pretty different. To say the least.
From the very beginning of the book it’s obvious that Ruby is grief-stricken and in a lot of pain. Not just over her mother dying but the fact that right after experiencing her death she’s being torn away from all the people that can really help her get through it. The book doesn’t always show how she’s feeling since from the very beginning she often tries to cover up her feelings with sarcastic, and snarky remarks. “I’m not that depressed considering this gigantic bullet with wings [airplane] is blasting me away from my whole entire life.” and “I’m doing reasonably well considering I’m being dragged away three-thousand miles away from all my friends, my school, my aunt Duffy, and the house I’ve lived in since I was born.” Are some examples of what her personality is like through-out the majority of the book.
Over the first chapter [her flight, basically] she explains the life she’s being forced to leave behind. She has a best friend named Lizzie Brody who she has known for “as long as she can remember.” And Ray Johnston, Ruby’s first real boyfriend, and who she is in “absolute” love with. The first description she gives of her father is a “scum-bag who divorced her mother before she was even born.” Oh, I can feel the love. The only way she even knew of her father is that her aunt Duffy annually took her on secret trips to the cine-plex to see him at work, as an Oscar-winning actor.
From the moment she finally met this father of hers, Whip Logan, they were chased by paparazzi, right up until they got to the huge mansion he lived in. There wasn’t much interaction between the two at first, and that’s how Ruby wanted to keep it. At times Whip would try to start a conversation, talk to her, get to know her. But every time he tried she would just shoot him down, or make some kind of rude comment to purposely end the conversation. This is how things went on for a while in this book. As Ruby explained it “Everyone loves my father, everyone but me.” Her father puts her in a room designed just for her liking, he takes her on shopping sprees and buys her everything in sight. Now, secretly she loves all of it, the room, the stuff, the attention. But she does everything in her power to not let that show, because in her opinion there is no material thing her father could get her that could make up for his fifteen-year absence in her life. And she wants him to know that.
As the connection between her and Lizzie & Ray is starting to wither away [mainly because Lizzie hooks up with Ray], Ruby is starting to feel more and more alone. And this is where Max is introduced. Whip is introducing Ruby to all his “helpers”, i.e. his tailor, decorator, chiropractor, psychic, lawyer, agent, masseuse, business manager, broker, gardener, housekeeper, homeopath, acupuncturist, manicurist, and violinist. And according to Ruby they all seem like “kiss-ass jerks”, except one. Max, Whip introduces Max as his “assistant, slash personal trainer, slash all-around life-saver”. He’s the only one out the bunch of “hangers-on” who “doesn’t tip-toe around Whip like he’s breakable, or something.” And “actually seems interested in getting to know her”. Max is a large attribution to the conflict between Ruby and her father being solved. In my opinion, Max is the only cool character in the entire book, he’s the only one I’m fond of the whole time he’s there. And at the same time he’s the character I’m most surprised is even in the book, he’s just like a shining light in the whole dark theme of this story.
Max and Ruby automatically become good friends, and hang out like “girlfriends”. Max is the character in the book that Ruby seems the most comfortable with, they share secrets with each other, and she talks about her mother, and friends with him. He’s a “bearded-bruiser of a guy, with a voice more gravelly than Hagrid’s” Ruby explains, but she says that “he

				ANSWER:
I’m kind of torn on this essay attempt. There are many good things about your writing. You have exceptionally mature sentence structure and very good word choice. But, if I were your English teacher, I would fault you for not writing to the question. You probably think you did but there is an awful lot of plot summary here. I know you need to refer to plot to prove your point but in order to do that your point needs to be announced at he beginning. Then, your plot and the explanation of how it proves your point is woven to prove what you are trying to say. Not that your opening sentence isn’t terrific: it is, but rather than launching into a summary, introduce your answer. Here is an example of what I mean.

It is here that the conflict is introduced. Her absentee father is described as the “scum-bag who divorced her mother before she was even born.” This is a pretty bitter comment making it highly unlikely that Ruby would ever be able to resolve her problems with him. Besides that she has been forced to endure the death of her mom, and finally face other gigantic changes in her life. Most people would just dig in and fight as a consequence of the situation. But, the surprise resolution is that Ruby allows herself to change.

Do you see how a slight change in your opening paragraph answers the question? Then you can keep most of the rest of your essay and just reorganize it a little. Remember, if you are writing an essay in the same order that incidents in the book happen, you are probably retelling the plot and not answering the question. I hope this helped, but I realize that I did not answer your question.

Aliso Viejo, CA (PRWEB) February 16, 2009

Leading virtual physician recruitment service, eMatchPhysicians (http://www.ematchphysicians.com) is partnering with Bank of America to offer the No Money Down Doctor Mortgage Loan Program. The Doctor Loan program allows physicians or Dentists to purchase a home in most states with zero down and avoid the cost of Private Mortgage Insurance, PMI. In those states with declining values, such as California, Nevada, Arizona and Florida, the required down payment is still only 5 %.

Bank of America offers these special terms to doctors in order to make it easier for them to purchase a home shortly after making a career change or starting in a new position or practice. This program can help physicians to preserve assets, maximize tax advantages and settle into a home of their own, even if they are just getting started in their career.

“We feel it is in everyone's best interest to give special treatment to those dedicated professionals who help their communities remain healthy and happy,” says Bank of America Mortgage Loan Officer, Frank Joseph. “Bank of America knows that after years of training for your profession, you want to take the next steps in life.”

“We know that one of the most challenging parts of a move to a new job is finding a place to call home. In these tough economic times, Bank of America wants to make sure that practicing physicians don't feel like they can't move because of financial restrictions. Physicians just starting out in practice may qualify immediately for the program, while most people need to show two years of work history to qualify for any mortgage. Loan amounts up to $1 million are available, with Fixed or Adjustable Rate Mortgages and the ability to forgo traditional Private Mortgage Insurance is an additional money saver on top of the no money down.”

“This is a great incentive for physician recruiters to have in their toolkit,” explains Jessica Joseph, President of eMatchPhysicians.com. “We recommend printing this page and giving a copy to any potential out-of-town new hires, or providing them a link to this information in an e-mail.”

eMatchPhysicians and Bank of America are committed to providing solutions to help physicians. Contact Frank Joseph – Mortgage Loan Officer at 949-347-1728 or visit http://www.eMatchPhysicians.com/2009/doctor-mortgage-loan-program for more details.

If you want to get treated for your pain without drugs and surgery, you have to look out for the right chiropractors. They are doctorate level health practitioners who have obtained the same type of training as the medical doctors and have more nutrition training, radiology and diagnostic training.

The success of a chiropractor lies in diagnosis of the problem. The techniques and services offered by each one of them vary greatly and when you want to choose the right one, you may choose him according to the technique used.

Almost three fourths of the chiropractors in the world use diversified type of techniques. This is nothing but a collection of manipulative methods. The common method used by most of them is motion palpation. This helps to determine when and how to manipulate the spine area.

There are so many other precise and gentle manipulative methods. Some techniques focus on the upper cervical region and some focus on the end of the spine. Those practitioners that focus on upper cervical region are very rare. They exert less force and they are considered to be the best one.

Those that concentrate on the sacrum and the pelvis use such techniques as activator, pro adjustor and torque release. These are carried out by a mechanical device. You may select the right one according to your problem area.

Network spinal analysis is the major technique focused by most of the chiropractors. After few visits, the self correction should work. A good practitioner should be able to alleviate pain and reduce allergies and stress.

The right chiropractor would be the one who has more number of satisfied patients. The good practitioner will use all his extra training and knowledge he got during his doctorate degree for the goodness of his patients. This sort of professional development will attract more people towards their service.

Another issue that must be kept in your mind when you select the right person is cost. You must be aware of how much he would charge and what would be the cost of the care plan he advises. Some doctors take care only until the symptoms are better.

Then he says to come back when the patients get the trouble again. This is a false approach. Your chiropractor must do something more than simply getting you out of the symptoms so that you will never get back the trouble again in your life.

You can select the right chiropractor who is friendly and talks in an amiable way. To find such a person, I recommend you to try out various chiropractors and find out how much you like each one of them. You must keep in mind that those who act to be cheerful will look so only in the first visit.

When they start their therapy after few visits they may be aggravating. So only if you have confidence in their method of treatment, honesty and clinical skills you may carry on your treatment. Decide these things based on your convenience.

The chiropractors must be good in both diagnosis and prognosis and so select one accordingly.

			QUESTION:
How do you find a MEDICAL DOCTOR (MD) who offers chiropractic adjustments?
I know, it’s an odd request, but it’s a loophole in my medical insurance plan: if I can find a medical doctor (MD), NOT a Doctor of Chiropractic(DC), who offers chiropractic adjustments, the specialist copays are considerably lower in my medical plan. I guess the idea here is to find someone who is a MD, yet also trained as a DC? Yeah, it’s a strange scenario.

The insurance company has no record of MDs who offer adjustments, so the only other alternative is to call EVERY SINGLE MD in the area who’s in the insurance plan and ask if they are also a DC and if they offer chiro adjustments. That’s just ridiculous, but that’s the kind of lunacy I’ve grown to expect from Blue C… er, better not name them here.

Anyone have any other ideas?

				ANSWER:
look for someone with DO after their name and not MD. DOs are doctors of osteopathy which is a doctor that can do all of the stuff that MDs do, but has training in manipulations as well. DOs should be covered by your insurance.

So sorry to read of your wrist injury,I can sympathize. As you are probably aware, your DC degree won’t transition into much of anything else in the health field. But there is a bright spot in the area of neuro- monitoring. Actually DCs are one profession that they are actively seeking to train. Hope this helps…..http://www.surgmon.com/careers.html

			QUESTION:
What are the top colleges to become a doctor of chiropractic medice? What are the top chiropractic colleges?
I need to know where the best place to go to school would be to get my D.C.

				ANSWER:
At this time graduates of Chirpractic colleges earn the doctor of Chiropractic degree (DC), not a doctor of Chiropractic Medicine degree (DCM). The term medicine is often misleading in that Chiropractic, as is Allopathy (Western medicine), Osteopathy, Naturopathy and other health care forms are each a different form of medicine. I graduated from Cleveland Chiropractic College of Los Angeles in 1991, which had an outstanding out-patient clinic that prepared me for nearly all possible problems I have been asked to evaluate and treate, and feel it is one of the best in the world, not just the USA. All of the colleges which are CCE accredited are professional and have high standards. If you are interested in attending a Chiropractic college, it is important to consider the region you would prefer to live in while at school. If you are most interested in a traditional approach, then Palmer Chiropractic College in Davenport, Iowa, might be best.

			QUESTION:
How is the job opportunity for doctor of chiropractic? Because I do not see a lot of job listings in the field
What is the basic differences between a physical therapist and a D.C? Which has more job opportunity? Is there a big difeerence in income level?

				ANSWER:
A DC traditionally focuses their practice on the treatment of the spine, but they have been known to see patients for extremity related disorders. A DCs most traditional method of treatment is manipulation, or “adjustment”…meaning they use a high velocity thrust technique to restore the joint to a normal position. However, DCs do focus on wellness and nutrition as well.

PT is much broader, seeing patients for a number of disorder. We see people not just for neck and back pain, but also for recovery after open heart surgery, stroke, knee surgery, etc. We use a much broader scope of techniques include stretching, strengthening, balance, gait training, massage, and manaul therapy. However, even when we consider treatment of the spine alone, the major difference between PTs and DCs is that PTs show the patient how they can help themselves, whereas the DC makes the patient depended on them for recovery. However, the more savy DCs incorperate rehabilitation into the program. We basically seek to do the same thing…restore the joint to a normal position, but how we do it differs.

As far as income, both can have big earning potentials…especially when we consider private practice. However, it is probably more of the norm for a DC to establish private practice whereas most PTs work for a clinic or hospital. I’ve known DCs who were earning about ,000 a year as they struggled to establish their practice, but then eventually earned over 0,000 a year. Most PTs fall in the category of earning between -70,000 a year, but about 15% earn more than 0K.

Both careers are expected to grow much faster than average.

				ANSWER:
The information he provided can easily be obtained by picking up a good pathophysiology & biochemistry book. Interesting that he did not mention the genetic component of T2D. Lots of people are obese and do not have T2D yet majority of people who have T2D are overweight indicating a genetic and environmental component.

The chiro provided a great explanation of insulin, glucose and IR but then later said that insulin binds glucose? Insulin binds insulin receptors causing a range of actions one of which includes the translocation of GLUT4 to the surface membrane of adipocytes and myocytes. Good explanation though.

I agreed with the role of the food production companies however people need to start to demand ‘healthier’ options, low salt, less added sugar. Until the people start to demand this it will not occur (example is low fat products).

America, ‘we’re kinda a country of excess…’ ya think?

He had a very interesting spin on the role of cholesterol and atherosclerosis development, I would like to see the research that supports this view.

I would have liked to know more about what he advises for diet and exercise therapy. It is known that good exercise and diet can reverse T2D nothing to new there however, significant micro- and macrovascular damage has probably already occured unfortunatly. This highlights the importance of picking up pre-diabetic states such as impaired fasting glucose & impared glucose tolerance. I do agree that many physicians do not turn to diet and exericse which her refered to as ‘alternative’ medicine. It is a shame medications are usually the first option. Why don’t people ever get referred to a dietitian for diet changes, why does it have to be alternative medicine with supplements and herbs? Is it because people would prefer a quick fix instead of putting in the long term effort and getting the results?

Integrated health would be nice, more research into T2D would be nice, healthy food production would be nice as would preventative medicine.

			QUESTION:
I am a Doctor of Chiropractic looking for a way to market my holistic type practice, where could I do this?
I am located in the Denver area.

				ANSWER:
I gather you’re a new doctor? Like any other new doc, school didn’t teach you a darn thing about running a business, or they did a poor job at it. Chiropractic and family medicine is pretty much the same thing in terms of marketing. Get new patients. Here’s my experience running my practice in NYC, it may differ from yours.

I recommend that you pick up the book “Startup Guide to Guerrilla Marketing: A Simple Battle Plan for First-Time Marketers” It’s a very good book that tells you how to do proper marketing on a schedule. How to formulate a unique selling point/position. And how to go after these markets. So on and so forth.

Your best source of information would be your local Denver chiropractic association, or your Colorado Chiropractic association. Talk with the president and other board members. Talk with the local members. They have wealth of information on how they conduct marketing. The most important information to obtain is what has the best ROI in Denver, and what has the worst ROI.

Try hooking up with www.SCORE.org they can assign a mentor for you, one who’s experienced with entrepreneurship and marketing.

In general, yellow pages is the worst ROI, so don’t bother buying any space. Same with post cards, or welcome wagon. Ask your local chiropractic association, some local neighborhood newspapers may be a decent/good ROI. Or advertise in a holistic/health newspaper.

Join the chamber of commerce, BMI, Rotary, Lyons, Elk, and any other popular networking group in your area. Again, ask your local chiropractors to see what network group is worth joining and produces good ROI.

Advertise in your local health food/organic supermarket. Or go door to door and introduce to yourself to every local holistic type practitioner. Naturopaths, homeopaths, acupuncturists, chiropractors, massage therapists, medical doctors, Reiki or energy healers, so on and so forth.

Join whatever club or activity that interests you. Introduce yourself. Overtime, let people get to know you and then you can tell them more in detail what you do. People don’t like to be sold, that makes you like a used car salesman. Merely educate the patients. They’ll look up to you, curious and want to learn more, they’ll ask for a business card and come to your practice.

If there’s a volunteer activity, I recommend getting involved. Either through your church or your local chiropractic organization. Volunteering services always brings forth good feeling, brings exposure, and increases your marketing. Just once a month is sufficient.

One more thing. Setup a great website that’s dynamic, informative, and continually updating with latest relevant health information. This is one of your best ROI.

And of course, the best way to market is to do internal marketing. Ask for referrals. Once you’ve developed your marketing skills well enough, you should be able to obtain 3-5 new patients from each existing patient. And never shield away from the very difficult patient, sometimes they turn out to be the best patient. If you can manage to convince them and turn their health around, I wouldn’t be surprised to see 20 new patients.

			QUESTION:
Doctor of Chiropractic…?
Is Docotor of Chiropractic a good career?
What is the income…
Could you list some of the common tasks a Doctor of Chiropractic performs…

				ANSWER:
Hi Anna. I am a retired Chiropractor.

The Chiropractic profession can be a wonderful career choice if you have a passion for people, health and healing. Helping others can be very rewarding and Chiropractic education and philosophy can add wonderful insights to your life as well as to the lives of your patients.

Chiropractors perform a variety of tasks. They take patient histories, perform physical examinations, take X-rays, and of course provide Chiropractic spinal manipulation and other forms of treatment. Additionally, Chiropractors may provide nutritional counseling, exercise advice. injury prevention advice, etc. There are many specialty areas for advanced post-doctoral training such as in Radiology, Orthopedics, Clinical Nutrition and Sports Medicine.

Sadly, incomes for many Chiropractors are declining. In many large population areas, managed care dominates Chiropractic reimbursement and controls patient access to Chiropractors. Consequently, incomes of Chiropractors have fallen. In less populated areas like Montana, managed care is not present (yet), so many doctors do well financially. It is unclear what impact any Obama health care plan would have on professional incomes for Chiropractors. Most importantly, Chiropractic is a highly skilled profession. Consequently incomes are highly variable based on the wide variation in individual doctor’s skills (both “people” and clinical skills). Some Chiropractors make more than half a million dollars a year. Some fail completely and have to find other jobs/careers. Most probably make between ,000 and 0,000 per year (about equivalent to an experienced high school teacher’s salary in a large city when you include the teacher’s benefits package and 10 month work year – most Chiropractors are self-employed so they have no benefits packages, just their net incomes).

So, in summary, if you have a passion for people, are good with your hands and can develop good adjusting skills, are motivated, self-directed and willing to work long and hard hours to build a practice, then the Chiropractic profession can be very rewarding.

Best wishes and good luck.

p.s. when my computer booted up this morning, it brought this page back up, so I was able to read the other responses (and note the 2 thumbs down to my response). These types of irrational and negative attitudes about Chiropractic are quite common and one of the issues all Chiropractors encounter. However, for every negative ‘nut’ there are dozens of happy and enthusiastic Chiropractic patients whose improved lives are solid testimony supporting the value of Chiropractic health care.

Can the doctor of Chiropractic do injection? Like Botox or anything?

				ANSWER:
generally a chiropractor doesn not do injections. But that does not mean he has not had the trainning to do so. Nurses and cna’s can give injections, so it does’nt take a whole lot of training. And as for the botox. I am not sure you even need a lisence. If you go to mexico everything is legal.

			QUESTION:
What is better doctor to diagnose a back pain – MD or DC ?
What is better doctor to diagnose a back pain – Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Chiropractic ?

				ANSWER:
Being a Doctor of Chiropractic, you would think i would vote for Chiropractic.

However, both are just as good as long as they look at all the causes. Your back pain is always a combination of a few minor issues including muscles and joints.

There are 4 main patterns that lead to back pain that arise from various postural changes in your pelvis and spine. All of these you can work out yourself easily (see http://www.back-pain-advisor.com).

If you think it is more severe, then you need to see your Medical Doctor as they can prescribe pain relief or refer to a specialist if they think you have something more serious.

But for 99% of people with back pain, it is minor and either a DC or MD are similar – it just depends on what treatment you wan t – medication or treatment.

After obtaining a Bachelor’s degree, about how many years would it take to earn a DC?

				ANSWER:
Well all programs are either 4 or 5 academic years. In terms of hours they are usually a few hours more than MD school. Not all the chiro schools require a bachelor’s degree but all require at least 3 years college to apply. You can take no breaks and finish some chiro programs in 3 years to 3 and1/3 years I believe. Here is an excellent program. This school requires a bachelor’s degree.

				ANSWER:
If you hope to become a PT, you should examine the requirements for entrance into the specific graduate level program to which to hope to apply. It usually requires several courses that includes chemistry, physics, biology, math, and psychology. Declare a major as an undergraduate (preferrably one that encompasses most of those courses). Begin taking your gen eds, major and prerequisite courses. As you neer completion of your BS, look for a volunteer or employment opportunity in a physical therapy clinic…preferrably one where someone would be willing to write you a letter of recommendation. Strive for a high GPA as admission is selective.

			QUESTION:
What kind of doctor for chronic back pain?
My husband has back pain that comes and goes, when it is really bad he can’t even stand up straight. This last bout has lasted for several weeks. I think he is ready to see a doctor about it, but we don’t know what kind to see. He is not trying to go the chiropractic route. What kind of doctor specializes in back pain?

				ANSWER:
If he has seen a Chiropractor and not gotten relief — then he should see a Orthopedic Dr. or Sports Medicine Dr. –
But don’t discount Chiropractic – I had one Dr. told me to live with it – and one wanted to do surgery and remove the Coccyx bone (tail bone) – And I tried a friend’s Chiro. and never had to have surgery — it has been 6 years — I still go to him once a month – to keep everything aligned —
(I dont’ like the Chiros that want you to come every week – even if you are OK) – But the fact that they can relieve pressure off a pinched nerve to stop pain is worth a try —
However, if it is a disc problem and it can not be changed by adjustments – then you might need surgery —
Upper back surgery is not too bad — However, I’ve heard horror stories about lower back surgery (cutting a nerve to bowels/bladder and having to have a bag) – pain not being relieved, etc. — so I’d get more than one opinion if they mention surgery —
Good luck -

			QUESTION:
Best Chiropractic/Sport Injury Doctor/Physical Therapist?
I want to go for the best place where I can fix my shoulder blade pain….pls help

				ANSWER:
Only you and your primary doctor can figure out whats the best for you. Check with them first. Ask them to send you for the appropriate tests to find out what exactly the cause of your pain is. X-rays, MRI, CAT scan, ultra sound are all good in finding the culprit to your pain.

Your primary may set you up with a regimine to try at home. Ice and heat alternately to reduce external swelling if that’s present. Anti-inflamatory medicines to reduce internal swelling. Excercises to stimulate the blood flow to the area so you’re not stiff.

From there, they would be best to determine what further care you may need/want and which specialist would be best to go with.

			QUESTION:
What do you think of this doctor of chiropractic and his discussion on hormone problems in woman?
There are 3 parts. He talks about natural therapy bu is not against medication if needed.

http://www.thewellnessdoc.com/custom/dr.ungar/videos/video.asp?Video=female&VideoPart=1

Smokin k. I think if you were educated and you actually watched the video you might reconsider your opinion that htis man is not a doctor. I think some clinicians might disagree with some points but nobody who was a knowledgeble clinician would say this guy is uneducated and has a high level of knowledge. You are being very bigoted I think. Try actually watching the whole video. You might learn something. I know MDs that study with him certainly feel he is a doctor. Very much so. I do not absolutely agree with everything he says but I have to admit he is very very smart and well studied. And I respect him for that. I learned stuff from him tghat I had not remembered in years. Or never knew…

				ANSWER:
As a woman who has lived most of her life “naturally” I think Dr. Keith Ungar is bang on the money with the information presented in this video.

Dr. Ungar provides a clear portrait of how hormones are affected through processed and refined foods and how through the simple act of a proper diet and moderate exercise most women can naturally balance their hormones and emotional reactions.

The adrenal gland, hypothalamus and pituitary glands are the most essential glands in the body when it comes to hormones and hormonal balance. Dr. Ungar mentions the need to help balance these feedback glands through natural replacement therapy.

The body is a science that requires a natural yet scientific approach if it is to operate optimally. Eating is a science that requires common sense and a natural approach. Refined processed foods are not natural and consequently alter the biochemical balance of the body. All healing can be done naturally given the know-how. Dr. Ungar promises to eliminate the guess work by providing that much needed know-how.

I look forward to reading Dr. Ungar’s book and highly recommend this video. In fact, I’ve already promoted it on my facebook.

			QUESTION:
Easiest way to become a doctor?
I want to go into alternative medicine, but the FDA and other government agencies are cracking down on holistic medicine and natural health practitioners. Now days, if you want the government off your back, you need to become a doctor of some sort. Should I go chiropractic? Are there any other doctor programs that are quicker?

				ANSWER:
The government is NOT cracking down on the use of alternative meds – they spend billions of dollars every year researching them – - I used to do just that – - what they are cracking down on is unsafe/lack of/bad science. Be glad for that – - it prevents people from getting hurt, and I’ve seen plenty of that.

Just for the sake of posterity – here is the national institutes of healths complimentary and alternative health website. Just so you know they aren’t the enemy.

http://nccam.nih.gov/

Become a doctor – - then you’ll know WHY these things work and have a much better chance of making a real difference – - publish articles, speak at your capitol, AND see patients.

Chiropractors provide valuable services to some, but they are not doctors.

Sorry, there are no shortcuts to becoming a doctor…it takes that long to learn how this body works from a molecular to a systematic to an organism level.

In theory, I guess you could become a registered dietician, since most herbs are considered supplements, and not drugs. Just an idea, but maybe one worth looking into…

			QUESTION:
Chiropractic a rewarding career?
I am interested in being a chiropractor and I was wondering what are the most rewarding things about being a Doctor of Chiropractic? This is a question for a Chiropractor, so if you are not one, please do not answers.

				ANSWER:
I’m not a DC, but I know that reimb from insurance companies for chiro treatment is not very good . I realize that you only wanted to hear from actual chiros but I have a very close friend who choose that route so I’m going to answer, based on what I’ve heard from her. I hope it can do you some good.

Plan on doing a cash-only practice. Also, don’t limit your patient base to any particular demographic (ie, personal/auto injuries, a specific geographic location/ age group). You might also consider augmenting your education or practice with accupuncture & naturopathy/nutritional experts. If you do find that you’re mostly handling business referrals from attorneys, stay true to your ethics despite their pressure and work to create various sources of patients so you’re never beholden to any one group of patients/insurance companies/ attornies.

I think that helping people feel better has to be a rewarding feeling, but when you have to fight for every penny just to keep the lights on at your office/practice, it can significantly reduce that feeling of goodwill.

			QUESTION:
Should I do chiropractic or pursue being a doctor?
Don’t give the quack business about chiropractic. They both seem like good jobs and I’ve researched a ton on both already. The only benefit I see to MD is that it offers more money but I don’t care about that because it’s not that much higher than chiropractic. What scares me away is trying to do the MCATS for MD. There’s no way I would pass that since it’s heavy on science. Chiropractic just doesn’t have any hurdles like MD. My parents are from Nigeria and only want me to do MD because it’s respected in Nigerian culture. What do you all think?

			QUESTION:
What kind of treats for patients are good to put at the front desk in a doctor’s office?
I know you guys are thinking “If it’s a doctor’s office, don’t offer candy because it’s bad for them,” but I think hey, if it makes them happy, they will feel better.

What kind of candy or treats (not necessarily edible) should I put at the front desk of a chiropractic office? Mints? Something more exciting? Should they be wrapped individually or should they be things that people just grab and eat it. Thanks!

				ANSWER:
There’s absolutely nothing wrong with candy. On the U.S. east coast, I don’t know of one doctor who does not have a bowl of treats for patients, available when they arrive or leave.

Doctors’ offices here are quite generous with treats. It’s probably for reasons similar to feeling better when the appointment is over, just the way youngsters are treated after a dental visit (they’re especially treated to a goodie after cleanings).

All of the treats are individually wrapped for sanitary reasons. Here’s what I recall seeing in big bowls.

Tootsie pops
Flat lollipops in assorted flavors
QUESTION:
What to do when Shadowing a Doctor?
In the near future I want to shadow a doctor, (a Doctor of Chiropractic) and I was wondering if there is anyone out there who has ever done this, and what to do, like taking notes, when I am observing the doctor.

				ANSWER:
Keep a small notebook and pen with you, but mostly observe what they do. Don’t write down things that you learn in your lectures anyway (aka the actual medical side of things) but more how the doctor treats people, or how they explain symptoms and treatments. In between appointments, ask the doctor any questions you have, and note down the answers – most doctors won’t mind talking to you at all, in fact it can be quite stress-relieving having someone to wind down on during the lull.

Additionally, try using the opportunity to get some hands-on experience with the subjects, and feel things that you’ve only read described in a textbook.

			QUESTION:
Is being a naturopathic doctor a good career?
I would like to be a nutritionist, but am also interested in chiropractic. I’m also thinking about naturopathy!

Should I just study to become a naturopathic doctor?

				ANSWER:
Hey Razmataz. I am a retired Chiropractor. I work with several local Naturopathic Physicians.

First, you can see from some of the answers, there is a lot of uneducated, negative bias toward Naturopathic Physicians (just as there is towards Chiropractors).

Either profession can open the door to you for advanced, professional training in nutrition. Both professions require 4 years of undergraduate education with appropriate courses in biology, chemistry, physics, math, etc. Both professions require another 4 or more years of training in professional school/colleges. Chiropractors are recognized and licensed in all 50 states, whereas many states do not yet recognize and license Naturopaths.

I encourage you to contact the admissions offices of several accredited colleges in both professions to explore the pros and cons of each for yourself. Both professions can be challenging, but rewarding.

				ANSWER:
Some doctors will actually recommend people go and see a Chiropractor. Basically it depends on the individual and how well they know the Chiropractor. If they build up a good relationship over time, and and doctor has seen some good results, then they will continue to refer there.

Otherwise a doctor may recommend patients go to a Physical Therapis, Osteopath, or even in some cases a massage therapist.
If the problem appears to be serious enough they may recommend the patient see a neurologist.

				ANSWER:
Please do not go for surgery. Any operation on your back may initially be a success but you will always be plagued with back problems. My friend had an op two years ago and he was fine. This year for no reason he lost control of his bladder and bowl. He needed to go back in for another emergency op as his lower vertebra had slipped 3cm. The sergeon said it was the worst case that he had seen. He was going to physio but still having trouble as the nerve was being pinched. I am using Elmore Oil from Australia for my arthritis in my knee and put him on to it. I swear by it and now he is hooked on it too. It is the fastest selling pain relief oil in Australia and it is fantastic. Even the Chinese Olympic team are using it. I think if you rubbed this on your back it would sort out the pain. DO NOT have surgery.

			QUESTION:
How much should I get for pain and suffer?
I’ve seen seeing a chiropractic doctor for about 6 months now due to back and neck pain. I have an accident back in September 2009 and the other party was a fault. My chiropractic doctor just released me and sent a released form to the insurance. The totaled of my hospital bill is 00. How much should I get for pain and suffer?

Add: back in that time, I was 4 months pregnant as well.

				ANSWER:
It all depends on the State Law. Some states require you meet a certain threshold before pain and suffering can be awarded. It can depend on the severity of the injury and whether it is considered long or short term. Also whether there was any broken bones. You need to talk to your local Insurance Agent.

			QUESTION:
Which program should I take to be called a “Doctor” ?
My friend just graduated with a Doctor of Chiropractic degree and he is referred to as a ‘doctor’. I am considering options to become a doctor, but what programs have the ‘doctor’ name with it? Doctor of Psychology? Doctor of Social Work?

				ANSWER:
Any PhD program will earn you the right to be called “Doctor”, but I wouldn’t put myself through all of that self-flagellation just because my friend earned a doctorate. Follow your heart, if you’re interested in a particular field then go for it.

			QUESTION:
how can i talk to my parents about going to a doctor for back pain?
I’ve had some back pain recently and I have a feeling that I know what I need to get rid of it but I don’t know how to tell my parents. I think I need to get a chiropractic adjustment; but usually they just say that if it’s still there in a couple days we’ll go to the doctor, but usually by then it’s gone. I don’t know what to tell my parents and I could use some help!

				ANSWER:
Just because the pain has gone, it does not mean the problem has. Explain that you keep getting this pain and maybe suggest you see your family doctor first – they may well refer you to someone like a chiropractor.

			QUESTION:
chiropractic?
i just recently went to a chiropractic doctor. he said i have a problem with my neck and shoulders. the treatment recomended is 30 treatments within the next 30 days should i get a second oppinion

				ANSWER:
Depending on the severity of the misalignment, 30 treatments in 30 days could be necessary, however it seems a bit high, but not beyond reason.

I have seen some patients that needed daily treatments for 1-4 weeks, others that needed treatment every other day. Again, it depends on your particular situation. Talk to the Chiropractor, get feedback on why he is recommending this treatment regimen.

If you still feel uncomfortable, getting a second opinion is always your right.

			QUESTION:
If I have a herniated disk or sciatica is chiropractic care going to help me?
Ive been in pain for 4-6 months and ive seen a chiropractor 3 times. Today is the worst pain I have been in since the 4-6 months. Im thinking the chiropractor is full of crap and is just trying to string me out for my money.

Should I go see a neurologist and get an actual medical opinion rather than a fake doctor?

				ANSWER:
I can give you my opinion as a Chiropractor. I will give you an opinion, but without a diagnosis it is hard to say what the best course of treatment is. Sciatica is very treatable by a good chiropractor, disk herniations are a different story.

Understand that surgery is always a last resort, and should be for any doctor recommendation. Chiropractic is always a good place to start, but you have to find a good one.
In your case, you may start with a chiro that deals in Auto accidents or uses decompression therapy, they see disc herniation injuries very frequently and can probably give you the best diagnosis and/or refer you to where you need to be. These doctors have good reputations with doctors of other specialties in their area and are not afraid to refer you as needed.

If you find that you have a disc herniation:
If you try chiro, give it a good 2 weeks of following the care plan exactly as recommended to see if you have a positive change. If you feel that you will have a hard time following the care plan then I would say to bypass the chiropractic.

If it is ineffective, the next step is usually cortizone shots from your neuro or primary care physician. The first treatment should give you relief, maybe not complete, but it should help with the pain. Just remember that this is not helping the problem, only taking away the pain. The time when the pain is diminished is a good time to rehab or what ever your doctor feels is appropriate. The problem here is that prolonged use of cortizone shots leads to rapid osteoporosis.

The last option is surgery, sadly about half of them fail. The other half do well. The problem here is that if the doctor chooses to do a surgical fusion, then the adjacent segments are placed at a higher risk of herniating, and the problem starts all over again.

I know this did not answer your question, but hopefully it will give a little insight.

			QUESTION:
chiropractic for ear infections in toddlers?
I have a 15 month old with an ear infection and fluid buildup. He’s on round 3 of antibiotics. Now the doctor wants to send him to an ENT who will want to put tubes in his ears. Surgery will be a last option for us. I have read that chiropractic adjustments can be successful in treating this problem. Does anyone have any info or personal experience with this? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

				ANSWER:
Chiropractors work on your bones and joints, so any treatment by one will have no effect on an ear infection. Go to the ENT and listen to what is said and advised. I was skeptical myself, but my son has done very well with his tubes. He got an ear infection every other month from birth until two. That’s when he had the tubes put in and hasn’t had any problems since. Since ear infections are usually caused by fluid build up behind the eardrum, the child is unable to hear normally, which lasts as long as 30 days after the infection clears up. That can seriously harm your child’s speaking ability. Getting the tubes and draining that fluid works wonders.

			QUESTION:
Why are so many people scared of chiropractic treatments?
Most medical doctors advise you to not go to the chiropractic doctor at all and Many people ask dose it hurt and a million other questions before going if they go at all.I personally think I would be in a wheel chair if not for one of these doctors.I was thrown out of a auto in a wreck and suffered intense back pain. My G.P.C.would only prescribed pain pills. Finally I went to a chiropractic doctor for a series of treatments and improved remarkably at a slow but steady rate. After six weeks I was able to return to my job working at heavy manual labor.

				ANSWER:
First I’d like to thank you for your supportive comments. An ever increasing number of MD’s support and refer to Chiropractors. Many physical therapist utilize manipulation and Osteopaths (DO’s) also use the technique. You rarely will hear from a person first hand who says a Chiropractor made them worse, often it is someone giving their uneducated opinion. There is a Psychiatrist who runs several websites that rip chiropractic ( they all feed into each other!) and he was even sued for putting out false accusations.
Understand that in healthcare, everyone is fighting for a piece of the pie and this often pits different providers against each other. We Chiropractors have the lowest malpractice rate of any doctor and yet people still hang on to this idea that we hurt people all of the time. It just isn’t the case.
We live in a society that has drugs and surgery marketed to us as if the human race didn’t exist before the advent of antibiotics, pain killers and hip replacements. Practicing healthcare now means you treat the symptom, not the problem.
If you find someone who says don’t go to a Chiropractor ask them why. They will respond with ” I went once or twice and it didn’t help” or ” I had a friend who went and they only got worse”. Sometimes this may be the case but it is because of the persons expectations, not the failure of the procedure. Chiropractic, much like physical therapy, is a physical medicine. It isn’t a quick fix and often people present with problems that have been bothering them for years or serious conditions that came on recently and they expect miracle cures that just would defy the laws of nature!
The modern Chiropractor utilizes many methods to treat a wide range of conditions. Unfortunately people only point to the adjustment as “chiropractic” and (usually out of ignorance) state an opinion based on misinformation or prejudice. For every person who claims that they put forth an honest effort through chiropractic treatment that wasn’t favorable I can point to fifty who will say the opposite.
Chiropractic is well accepted both in the community and in the medical world and as people become more aware of the dangers of drugs, poor posture , obesity and the importance of a balanced body, it’s popularity will continue to grow.
Thanks for your question.

			QUESTION:
What is atlas orthogonal chiropractic?
Can you tell me what the technique of atlas orthogonal is in chiropractic and if it really works? I saw it on the Doctors TV show and on Montel Williams. I’d like to know how you know this too (ie. personal experience, hear say, making it up, etc…) thank you!

				ANSWER:
I just had my first atlas orthogonal treatment today. I am a dental hygienist, and I put my neck and back through a lot of twisting and bending throughout the day. Most days after work I leave sore and uncomfortable. I have found incredible benefit from both Chiropratic and massage therapy techniques since I became a dental hygienist. One time I saw my regular M.D. for my discomfort, and he just put me on muscle relaxers and pain killers. That is just a band-aid on the problem. It doesn’t solve anything. There is a reason that alternative medicine is popular and has been around for so long…..because it works! Anyway, today I had an A.O treatment due to the beginning of carpal tunnel syndrome and the usual neck pain. It was a very easy procedure. The doctor took 4 xrays, evaluated them and me, had me answer a series of questions, and did the adjustment. It was quick and painless. I have to say though that tonight my upper back and neck is stiff and sore. My doctor did tell me that it is very common after your first treatment. I have been drinking lots of water, and I took a nice relaxing bath for some relief. I cannot yet say if I will see benefits from this technique, but I can say I know several people that have had great results. It is especially effective for migraines, arthritis, and a number of other problems. Hope this helps. I am a health care provider, and I understand the need and importance of traditional medicine. However, I think that alternative medicine along with traditional medicine can bring people a longer, healthier, and happier life. Good luck!

			QUESTION:
Why do people believe that Medical Doctors are more educated than Doctors of Chiropractic?

I believe that Chiropractic students go to school all year round…non stop ..Medical students don’t..Chiropractic students take about 30-35 credit hours of classes each trimester…not sure what med students do…

			QUESTION:
Why do people go out of their way to put the profession of Chiropractic down?
People will refer to Chiropractors as quacks and not doctors. To me, a doctor is anybody that helps people with their physical ailments and that has gone through schooling to get their, degree, certificate, license, or registration. Are people really that crazy? What did chiropractors do to these people to cause them to spew their hatred by any means necessary? DAMN!!!

				ANSWER:
Being a chiropractor means disregarding health sciences. There are three main principles in chiropractic, which modern health science tell us are wrong:

1) All diseases are caused by subxluxations of the spine.
- In reality chiropractic subluxations don’t exist.

2) These subluxations interfere with nerve function.
- Impaired nerve function has not been demonstrated.

3) Correcting these subluxations allows innate (a vitalistic force) to heal the body.
- No such vitalistic force has ever been detected.

Patophysiology aside – it is relevant to ask if it works anyway. And if it works better than other treatments.

Here is a review of studies on treatment of lower back pain: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/21328304 For this condition studies show no clinically relevant difference between chiropratic and other treatments (Including serious complications).

I think it is a problem that some chiropractors attempt to treat other conditions. Here is for instance a review of chiropractic treatment for gastrointestinal problems: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/21258667 or infant colic:http://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/j.1742-1241.2009.02133.x/pdf Studies show that it is useless.

And you also need to weight the risks involved against the benefits that can be achieved: http://jrsm.rsmjournals.com/cgi/reprint/100/7/330

			QUESTION:
Can a chiropractic neck adjustment cause throat tightness?
I had my neck adjusted 2 days ago (which didn’t seem to have any effect, good or bad) on my doctor’s recommendation because of temporary numbness in my neck a week ago. I woke up the morning following the chiropractic visit with tightness/soreness across my chest and all around my neck and throat but mainly in the sternocleidomastoid muscles on both sides. It hurts in my upper chest when I breathe deeply but doesn’t seem to make it any more difficult to breathe and isn’t tender to touch. I’ve been on meclizine 12.5mg 2x/day since the numbness (with nausea and dizziness) started and mostly am concerned about an allergic reaction since that can cause tightness in the chest and throat. I last took it about 13 hrs ago. If it’s just some mild muscle strain from the chiropractic, any advise on relieving it from someone with a similar experience? It’s a very disturbing feeling : )

				ANSWER:
Getting chiropractic adjustments can sometimes cause pain and inflamation in the area where you were adjusted, my best advice is to call the chiropractor and let them know what is happening, they can probably give you some hot/cold packs to help get rid of the soreness. Also, ask him/her about your meds and even your pharmacist to find out any possible side affects they might have on you.

San Francisco medical specialists Sequoia Physicians Network, a healthcare network provider serving San Mateo County, has more than doubled the number of friendly, qualified pediatricians available to families who are a part of the network. Five established local pediatricians were added to the group, adding to the three who were already a part of the network. The pediatricians were brought in before open enrollment, during which employees and families choose their health insurance and physician options for the next calendar year.

There are several excellent OB/GYNs who are part of Sequoia Physicians Network, but there were not enough pediatricians to support the deliveries of those doctors. Sequoia Physicians Network has been working to expand the pediatric options for its members and were pleased to be able to bring these five excellent established pediatric doctorsinto the Network, says Ed Kelley, CHWMF Executive Director for the Greater Bay Area.

Sequoia Physicians Network is a nonprofit corporation that contracts directly with insurance companies and health plans to deliver a network of local physicians to meet the healthcare needs of their subscribers. This network is made available under an arrangement between Sequoia Physicians Network and Sequoia Community Physicians PC, the medical group that the group contracted to provide a panel of more than 200 local physicians, available to Sequoia Physicians Network.

			QUESTION:
Can New York State chiropractors prescribe medication (i.e. muscle relaxants)?

				ANSWER:
Practitioners of Chiropractic medicine, aka “Doctors of Chiropractic” or D.C., treat disease *without* the use of medications or surgery. Chiropractors maintain that the body has a built-in capacity to restore health within certain limits, and base their care on this principle. It is against their ethics to prescribe drugs, in any state. It’s also against the law. They cannot operate; reduce fractures or dislocations; prescribe, administer, dispense or use drugs or medicines in practice (NYS allied health statute 6551(3). They cannot prescribe drugs or perform invasive procedures such as injections, transfusions or surgery. Chiropractors are also not licensed to treat life threatening conditions or diseases of any kind. When medication that is not over the counter or surgery is indicated, the Chiropractor should refer the patient to an allopathic or osteopathic physician as appropriate.

			QUESTION:
How can I tell a person is a real Chiropractor?
Is there some sort of degree or name prefix like Dr. so I know the person cracking my back is experianced and not just a guy that likes doing it? I live in New York too.

				ANSWER:
The salutory or honorific Doctor in front of a person’s name does not tell you what they have studied or if they are qualified. Anyone with a doctoral education, including my history and english professors in college were Doctors, but I wouldn’t let them twist and crank on my back. (Not that I am prone to let a chiropractor do this either). A Chiropractic Physician will have the initials DC after his/her name. When Allopathic and Osteopathic Physicians place their names on their doors or buildings, it is common for them to use MD or DO after their name, such as John Doe, M.D. or John Q. Public, D.O.. However, I have found that a large number of persons who are chiropractors, use Dr. Smith without the initials instead of John Smith, D.C..

In New York you verify licensure of a Chiropractic Physician at this site:

			QUESTION:
Where can I put in a complaint about my previous employer? (New York)?
They break a lot of labor laws, such no breaks except for lunch for a 9 hour work day. (no 15 min etc) They don’t pay for mandatory overtime on weekends. If you work over 40 hours you get paid in cash. So 10.00/hr for lets say 6 hours over 40 would get in cash off the books. No time and half. Also one guy hurt his back on the job and the employer would not pay his medical bills for a chiropractor. Another guy said he wanted his pay on his check so it is on the books, so the boss just never paid him what he was owed. The company is a construction company on a lake, they spill chainsaw oil/gas in the water and dont clean it up, dont were hard hats when doing roofing, etc. Just a lot of different things, very shadey.

			QUESTION:
Does Hawaii Allow for a Broad or Restrictive Scope of Practice for Chiropractors?
I am a chiropractor and I am interested in moving to Hawaii, just sort of collecting info right now. And I am just wondering, do chiropractors in that state have a broad scope of practice, like in Illinois and Oregon, or is it greatly restricted, like Michigan or New York?

				ANSWER:
Your question can be answered in terms of how much protection does each State give its citizens against chiropractic crackpots and their subluxation scams.

*It’s true that Illinois and Oregon offer minimal protection. Citizens of these states are vulnerable to wholesale fleecing by chiropractors.
*Contrary to the assertion, the State of New York also allows open predation.
*Michigan does much better — the scope of practice for chiropractors is relatively restricted in Michigan (at least on paper).
*Hawaii is (on paper at least) as restrictive as Michigan.

According to IOM criteria, there are ~15 states +DC where Restrictions of Scope of Practice on Chiropractors appears to be at least arguably sufficient to prevent the worst abuses of Chiropractic.

There are ~30 States in the USA where is is more or less Open Season on vulnerable/gullible patients by rapacious chiropractors. The laws are weak, and the Boards of Regulation rarely enforce even those laws and regulations that do exist.

			QUESTION:
Do people realize how much money we could save on healthcare if we would reform the way we license doctors?
Sorry about the length… I promise it is worth the read!

***********************************************
Besides paying some of the highest prices for health care, we have the dubious distinction of having the most heavily regulated healthcare system in the world. In no other country on earth are doctors and hospitals subjected to as many oversight and enforcement agencies, bureaus and commissions. Rules, regulations, and laws are duplicated, redundant, multiplied, magnified, and contradictory. Laws and regulations covering doctors and hospitals plus all the other parts of our healthcare system now account for over half of all the words, sentences, and paragraphs in our entire body of law.

If regulations could make a healthcare system work better, ours would surely be perfect. In fact, the opposite has occurred. Even those who believe that only government regulation can assure quality health care should face this fact. More laws and regulations are not going to fix our system. If we are truly concerned about the high cost of health care, if we really desire greater safety and higher quality, then we must undertake a dispassionate analysis of the current mess. If we wish to begin effective treatment of our healthcare system, we must first make an accurate diagnosis….

We have to go very far back to the first meeting of what would become the American Medical Association. This meeting was held in New York City in 1846. Twenty-nine allopathic doctors (MDs) attended the meeting. They wanted to establish a monopoly over health care in the United States for those doctors that practiced higher quality medicine, such as themselves. They felt there were too many different kinds of doctors practicing too many questionable forms of medicine. They wanted only doctors that conformed to their brand of medicine to be allowed to practice. They wished to set up their association as a medical elite and obtain a government-enforced monopoly over health care in the United States.

The following year the AMA was officially launched. Members’ efforts were at first slow to yield results. One of their first successes was in getting the exclusive right to positions in the federal government. Then, around 1870, the AMA began to find success at setting up medical boards in each state…

Soon after the medical monopoly was formed it began to push its agenda of destroying all competition. A well organized and funded nationwide purge of all non-MDs was undertaken. Over the course of the first half of the twentieth century this medical monopoly managed to shut down over forty medical schools. Their idea was to keep the number of doctors low in order to keep fees up. After WW II the medical monopoly started rigidly controlling how many of each medical specialty it would allow to be trained. So ophthalmologists, orthopedists, dermatologists, obstetricians, and others began to be in short supply. And of course when supplies are low, fees are high. The medical monopoly also managed to outlaw or marginalize over seventy healthcare professions. Protection of the healthcare consumer was, as always, the rationale for this power grab.

Whether the object of destruction by the medical monopoly be homeopaths, midwives, chiropractors, or internet prescribers, the purge is conducted in the same manner. No scientific proof or research data is offered to discredit these practitioners. The entire approach is one of character assassination directed at their profession.

On one occasion the medical monopoly did try to behave “scientifically,” but this approach backfired: They tried to show that obstetricians achieved a lower infant mortality rate than did midwives, but when the data was compiled it showed the reverse was true—midwives had the better record. The medical monopoly quickly abandoned this approach and returned to their proven method of buying lawmakers and writing nasty unsubstantiated accusations in their journals. It seems the public always falls for propaganda that promises greater consumer safety…

We should strongly consider abolishing state medical boards. Do we really need an additional and separate secret police for doctors? If we elect to keep the state medical board system, then governors should not be allowed to appoint doctors to medical boards or pharmacists to boards of pharmacy. This is like putting the foxes in charge of henhouse security! If these are supposed to be consumer protection agencies, then staff them with consumers. The ideal board member is the owner-operator of a small business. Such boards could consult anyone they wish for technical or professional advice.

I am sure that the Federal Trade Commission has looked at this, probably more than once. The legal problem is that the AMA does not directly intervene in the marketplace. The medical monopoly is cleverly divided up into numerous components with legal separations that make it nearly impossible to mount an effective antitrust case. Th
The AMA makes sure that it stays at arms length from the state medical boards and even has the Federation of State Medical Boards in between. The communication, cooperation, and even conspiratorial planning between the components of the medical monopoly are unquestionable, but such contact is always couched in terms of protecting the public.

If, however, the state medical board system were abolished, or disempowered, the medical monopoly would suffer a fatal blow. Cut off the small head of a giant rattlesnake and the huge body of the snake is rendered harmless. The beneficial effect of such action to healthcare consumers, American workers, and the economy would be enormous and immediate. Less appreciated would be an even more important effect: The breakup of the medical monopoly would go a long way toward taking American medicine out of its current political orientation and back into its proper scientific orientation.

http://mises.org/story/1749

I can’t even imagine how far “innovative doctors” could lower prices for their patients if they were only allowed to do so.
I am in Medical School and would love to see the changes made to the system that the article above speaks of.

				ANSWER:
I don’t know much about medicine, that much I confess. I do know that government involvement in it has not improved it since the start of Medicare. The improvements since that time are in spite of government involvement. As far as the AMA, I know nothing of their structure, but the government shouldn’t be granting them any kind of monopoly. Maybe they could still exist and do something without government blessing, but if they can’t, I’m inclined to think we’re better off without them.

Now, the American Bar Association is another matter. They do NOT need to be given input over Law Schools, requirements to take the Bar, or selection of judges at ANY level.

Law would improve greatly as a profession if it were moved closer to a profession one enters through Apprenticeship rather than through a series of standardized tests.

			QUESTION:
My sis doesn’t know what to do with her boss who has Alzheimers?
My sis has been working for a Chiropractor for over 19 years in New York City. She runs the entire office and does all the paperwork for taxes, payroll, scheduling appointments, cleaning exam rooms and even handling the doc’s personal finances and banking. The doc is 64 and was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. My sister said they lost patients because of the doc’s mental status. They are in debt and she has been paying the rent and office bills from the doc’s personal account. The doc has no children and her hubby is 86 years old. His mental status is good and he is sought of in denial of his wife’s Alzheimer’s. My sis got in touch with friends of hers that she went to med school with. The two med school friends had a meeting with the doc to make her realized it is time for her to retire. The old friends told my sis the meeting went well. The next day at work doc told my sis that it’s OK to “move to a smaller and cheaper location”. The doc completely forgot about the meeting with her friends. My sis then sat down with the doc and her husband. She was upset when my sis told her that there is no more money to keep the business afloat and looked into retirement for her and checked with Social Security on how much she will get, etc. The doc asked my sis why is she abandoning her after all of the years. The husband had nothing much to say. A social worker on my job told me to tell my sis to be careful because if doc should die then her two sisters may say that my sis took her money or something. My social worker co-worker said that my sis must have al receipts since handling her bosses finances to cover her butt. My sis does not know what to do at this point because she feels like she is abandoning the doc who has been good to her throughout the 19 years. My sis is going to now call doc’s sisters to meet with them. Any suggestions?

			QUESTION:
Auto accident, injury claims question hit/run UMC?
I was involved in an auto accident on 5/18/2008. I was driving northbound on interstate 95 headed to new york from virginia. When the accident occured I was In new jersey. Someone hit me in the passenger rear side which caused me to spin out of control and do about 3-4 360 degree turns down the freeway. I finally came to a STOP when the passenger side of my car hit the rear of an S.U.V. At that point the S.U.V stopped for a mere 1-2 seconds and sped off. I was left on the side of the highway by myself. Me and my passenger both sustained what we thought were minor injuries. An officer came wrote a police report (since there were no other vehicles that stopped he wrote it as hit/run). A tow truck then took my car off the turnpike and to the nearest local repair shop. I then had to take a TRAIN to new york from jersey to where my family lives. The next day I went to seek medical treatment for my neck/back/and right shoulder, so did my passenger. I got treatment 3 times a week from a chiropractor and got x-rays. The following week i returned home (virginia) where I found a chiropractor and had my medical files transferred. I have been seeing him since… I have seen a medical doctor, gone to get an MRI, and now have to go see an orthopedist. (The mri found i had a fracture in my shoulder) I went back to finally pick up my car from the shop the framework/ body work/ and paint had been done but they had not done anything mechanically to my car yet they insisted it was READY FOR PICKUP. i was furious so i end up driving my car back home to virginia because i could not waste any more time/money. My car still has check engine light on, abs light on, speedometer doesnt work, suspension was SHOT. the passenger side strut was blown i could tell cause that side of the car had no bouyancy (sp?) to it. I then called my lawyer and he called the insurance company and got them to replace that strut. EITHERWAY the car is still not mechanically sound and back to the state it was before the accident.

MY QUESTIONS ARE….

WHAT STEPS DO I TAKE FROM HERE?
ITS BEEN 3 MONTHS SO FAR AND MY CAR IS STILL NOT RUNNING CORRECT.
I have contacted the insurance company they told me an adjuster would come out to look at my car again and nobody has called me or showed up.

Am i sueing my insurance company?
All my lawyer has done is send out letters of representation to the doctors i have seen that my chiropractor has referred me to…

Im 20 years old
I have full coverage and own a 2000 bmw 528i

				ANSWER:
You might just have to unplug the battery so the check engine light comes off. Sometimes you need to do that to turn it off.

You should have left your car at the body shop until it was fixed completely. Insurance companies have to pay for storage everyday when a car is sitting in someone’s lot. But being that you drove your car from NJ to VA, chances are, no matter how hard you try your car isn’t going to get fixed at this point. You could try to get an estimate done and submit by fax & regular mail to your insurance company and see if they’ll pay it or reimburse you for it.

Most of the time, attorneys do the property damage part as a courtesy to the client; our office does.

You are suing your insurance company under the uninsured motorist part of your policy. Everybody has it. If you look on your declaration page from your insurance (the packet they send you every time your insurance renew), there’s a page that says your policy limits. So if you want to know the most you could possibly get when you sue them, look under the uninsured/underinsured motorist section. It should say an amount like [0,000/0,000.00 (per person/per accident)], those are your benefits. But that has nothing to do with the part that is paying your medical bills.

Your attorney sounds like my old boss, lol.

			QUESTION:
College essay for Duquesne University ?
tell me what you think! be as critical as you want!

-I am going for pharmacy

Mandatory essay question: Please discuss the following (300 word minimum): Tell us something unique about you, why you chose your particular major, and how you expect Duquesne University to help you achieve your academic, personal and professional goals. Please include any examples of your research, shadowing or volunteer experiences.

I am a runner. Many regrets have come from my decision to take up running, but at the same time, if I had not joined the Track team, I would not be who I am today. When I became injured the cycle of blurred doctors’ appointments began. After two months of multiple doctors, my second physical therapist suggested a bone scan and a MRI, which showed I had a stress fracture of my right tibia. After many weeks on crutches, I had unexplainable foot pain. From there I saw a foot specialist, nerve specialist, pain specialist, two physical therapists, a homeopath, chiropractor and other doctors as well. It was not until a year and a half later when I started to get better by nursing myself back through biking. When I went back to see my physical therapist, he postulated that the under usage and mechanics from not using my leg or foot was causing this pain. He worked with me to build strength in my leg and then suggested running!
My injury has changed my life. I refuse to take exercise for granted again. As I am still recovering, I take into consideration the strength of the body and how much stress it can really handle. During the months of seeing many doctors and not being able to diagnose my injury, I really became interested in the medical field. I hope to one day be able to solve other peoples problems and have answers for my patients. I have always found the fast pace world of a hospital and the excitement of helping others exhilarating.
Recently I have interviewed a friend who is a pharmacist at Kenmore Mercy Hospital, in Kenmore, New York. I wanted to get a first hand perspective on what pharmacy is all about. She told me the most satisfying part of her job is at the end of the day seeing how a patient has rebound since that morning and is on the path to recovery. A situation like that would really get me going as well! Being successful is a great rush.
In addition, during my interview, I also asked what the typical day of a pharmacist in a hospital consists of. She told me in the mornings she usually has meetings and also advises physicians and other health practitioners on the selection, dosages, interactions, and side effects of medications. Next she visits the different floors to report on patients and monitor the health and progress in response to drug therapy. She also must answer questions about prescription drugs, including questions about possible side effects as well as recommend different over the counter drugs.
Duquesne would be a great University for me to develop the skills needed to pursue a career in Pharmacy. After visiting Duquesne for the open house, watching the pharmacy presentation as well as talking with present pharmacy students I believe Duquesne’s program is ideal.

			QUESTION:
what should I choose as a career?
I’m a 23 year old female from upstate new york. I will be graduating with my master’s degree in biology in spring 2012 and I have to decide whether I want to try to get a job with that or move on to another school. I’m vegan so I definitely don’t want to work in a lab that tests on animals which seems to happen in a majority of them.

This summer I am going through a program to become a yoga teacher so I will have that as well. All of my friends and family are encouraging me to go to PA or med school but I am not very keen on western medicine. I tend to lead towards acupuncture and herbal remedies and things like that but I will have rather large student loans to pay off (after next year it will be over ,000), so I have to take salary into account. For the longest time I wanted to be a chiropractor but I don’t want to go to school for that many additional years. Lately I’ve been thinking about acupuncture but that’s quite a few additional years as well.

But I think a midwife would be a good job for you, you don’t need that much education, pays good enough to live comfortable with the nececities, and who doesn’t like to see babies being born? I seem to be getting some mildly hostile answers here. I posted a perfectly innocent question to get some real feedback not insults. I haven’t yet studied acupuncture so I don’t know that I believe in meridians or any of that. I’ve had it done a few times and I thought it was wonderful. I believe in both eastern and western practice but I don’t believe in the western medical practice of prescribing medicine for seemingly everything. I work in a hospital currently so I see it everyday. I think there are many instances in which prescription drugs are NOT necessary. Often diet or lifestyle change would fix the problem but americans seem to want to quick fix. They let themselves accumulate illness and then cover it up with drugs or surgery. That is what I want to stay away from. And when I talk about midwifery, I am speaking of midwifery in the united states. I know in New York state at least I have spoken to a lot of midwives and clients who have implied that getting insurance coverage ca
I really wasn’t asking for judgment here. I was asking for suggestions. I mentioned above that I don’t want to go to school for very many additional years, but below someone has suggested that I go to medical school. I really was hoping to get input as to whether midwives are having difficulty getting insurance coverage or if they are mostly covered now. I also wanted to hear about what people thought of Physicians Assistants. Also, if anyone had any other suggestions as to what I could look into.

				ANSWER:
There is no such thing as “western” medicine. When people say “western medicine” what they mean is conventional medicine. Alternative “medicine” such as acupuncture and homeopathy, etc, violates every basic law of science. It describes practices that haven’t been shown to work or shown not to work. How can you entertain this crap with your background?

Nursing and midwifery are good jobs, but with your degree, why not consider something in the science field? Or go to medical school?

“I haven’t yet studied acupuncture so I don’t know that I believe in meridians or any of that. ”

Belief should never be a requirement. You should accept the best explanation supported by the evidence. There is no evidence that these meridians exists.

“Often diet or lifestyle change would fix the problem but americans seem to want to quick fix.”

Yes, many diseases and illnesses are caused by or accelerated by an unhealthy diet and lifestyle. Patients want a quick fix, HOWEVER, once a medical problem exists, then it exists and it requires treatment. It won’t necessarily just go away. Drugs aren’t used to cover things up.

I think you need to take a long hard look at…well..to be blunt, reality. I’m not trying to be facetious.

			QUESTION:
Need Advice from chiropractors!?
I am a college student majoring in biology and am thinking about attending chiropractic school.
I want to work independently, but I am a little weary of that. I was wondering about being sued by patients. Obviously, I will be certified, but these days you must watch out for those types of people. (Like the woman who sued the fast food joint for spilling her hot coffee on herself). Anyways, to the chiropractors, Is it common for chiropractors to get sued over “malpractice?” If so, what happens next? That is the only thing that is holding me back. I have read and read about chiropractic as a career and it seems like the right career choice..
Also, any opinions on the best chiropractic schools? I am having trouble narrowing it down and I really don’t want to travel around the US touring schools! I am interested in Palmer, New York, Connecticut, and Georgia. I live in the east so I would like to stay around here, but if not, thats ok.

				ANSWER:
Don’t worry about being sued. Chiropractors are one of the least likely to be sued, and their very low malpractice premium reflects that. You’re worrying for something way too early for you. There are numerous ways to protect yourself. You’ll figure it all out by the time you graduate.

As for school, there’s only one to go. Life University in Atlanta. When you’re down there, master the Gonstead technique. Chiropractors who are able to do Gonstead are always the top of their profession. I only refer patients to Gonstead chiropractors, no other.

			QUESTION:
what the heck do I wear? I need your help!?
So I am 24 years old and I need to start dressing nicer. More professional. I am going to school for Medical Assisting and they want us to start dressing like we are professionals during the administrative part of the program. I am also going to start working in a Chiropractors office so I know I need to look nice. I have no idea what to wear. I can always recognize what looks good but when I go into a store to shop for myself there are so many things I don’t know what to put together. I usually shop at Charlotte Russe, American Eagle, Abercrombie, department stores… And I want to get some things from New York and Co. So does anyone have any outfits ideas you can put together for me??? thanks soooo much. p.s. I’m about 5’8” tall so I dont want to wear really high heels either.

Instrument adjusting has always played a significant role in my practice since I began in 1996. It enabled me to treat individuals that perhaps were not candidates for more traditional manual chiropractic adjusting methods, or people who preferred a different approach to correcting a problem. As a result of seeing families, athletes, geriatrics and infants for a variety of reasons, you can imagine the range of problems people might present with. Often times the most significant improvements are seen in people who are in their late eighties and some patients even in their nineties. Its a great feeling when you are able to provide a service to these people and see clinically measurable changes not only in the range of movement, strength, flexibility and comfort, but when those changes occur its amazing to see how they change all the way around in their personality and well being.

The instrument that I have come to use and recognize as a leader in the chiropractic profession in the instrument adjusting area is the Arthrostim Instrument from Impac. There are five main reasons that I incorporate instrument adjusting into my practice and also the benefits I believe it provides to my clients.

Safe and Gentle The instrument settings allow me to control the amount of force utilised for the adjustment. When there is a mis-alignment in the spinal bones or other joints, interfering with normal function and health, the adjustment can be delivered to the specific area, with a controlled amount of force. The Arthrostim can deliver these gentle percussive taps at approximately 12-14 cycles per second. Therefore, the adjustment can be delivered without the use of a more physical manual type of adjustment, and the cracking or popping that may accompany it. Seniors and infants tend to enjoy this type of instrument adjusting the most, as it is very gentle, safe and effective. With different force settings, different tips for the instrument, the instrument can be used on all ages or with people who suffer from special conditions that make them more fragile to care.

Seated Adjusting Positions The different stylus tips, and settings and versatility of the hand held instrument itself make it easy to be able to adjust people in either the prone or seated positions. Shoulder injuries, thoracic or rib problems, lower cervical problems can all be adjusted comfortably in the seated position. This is especially conducive to elderly people who may have trouble with their balance or vertigo going into a prone position on the adjusting table.

Specific Corrections When delivering a chiropractic adjustment it is imperative to have the maximum specificity to the adjustment. The more specific the contact to the area and the more specific the thrust delivered to the contact area the faster the results and the longer they are maintained. And often times when the contact is very specific the amount of force required to make a correction is very minimal and gentle.

Enhanced Neurological Response The Arthrostim Instrument works on the principle of neurological feedback. Similar to having your knee tapped with a reflex hammer and having your foot kick outward as a result, the instrument has a similar effect on the spinal joints and other joints through a proprioceptive (sensory) receptor called the Golgi Tendon Organ (GTO). For the purposes of this article we will give a general overview of what may be happening. When there is force generated in the muscles surrounding the joint, nerve impulses are sent through the spinal cord to the brain cerebellum and cerebral cortex. The ascending or afferent (sensory) pathways to the cerebellum are the dorsal and ventral spinocerebellar tracts. They are involved in the cerebellar regulation of movement. So the more the instrument is able to specifically thrust multiple cycles, this sends multiple signals to the brain stimulating these movement pathways.

Adjustments in Motion Several types of problems may require to be adjusted while in motion to gain the maximum benefit. An example of this may be a person who has an elbow or shoulder problem, or a lower lumbar (back) misalignment with scar tissue or adhesions around the affected area. An effective way of using the instrument to maximise the results of the adjustment is to adjust the involved area while moving. For example I may have the person bend their arm back and forth moving the elbow joint as I deliver the thrusts, or have a person gently turn their head right and left as I use the instrument on the lower cervical (neck) misalignment, or walking on the spot for a lower lumbar problem. Often times I may see an increased range of motion from 50% to 80-90% just by having the person move their chin side to side as I adjust them. The instrument is able to mobilise the neck vertebrae, break up any muscle spasm and effectively the inflammation may start to dissipate. This may also help to reduce the pain quickly and get that person back on to the road of health again.

Some of the conditions that I have seen the greatest response from the Arthrostim Instrument include:

a Back pain
a Neck pain
a Sciatica
a Pain between the shoulders
a Leg pain
a Shoulder and arm pain to just name a few

The Arthrostim Instrument produces an average of twelve thrusts a second. This known as the low beta somatomotor rhythm frequency, this is what sets the Arthrostim instrument apart from the other chiropractic adjusting instruments. The Arthrostim’s multiple thrust is two to three times the rate of other multiple thrust instruments. The rapid thrust ability of the instrument bombards the target area with specific adjusting energy and force. The adjustment continues to stimulate the area through the joint to the surrounding soft tissues and nerves. This extra stimulus may also release trigger points muscle spam and help reduce inflammation, providing relief and longer lasting corrections. Patients typically may notice a positive difference with the first treatment.

This article is meant as a general overview of some of the benefits people have experienced as a result of the Arthrostim Instrument adjusting in mychiropractic practice. This article is for informational purposes only and should not be used to replace the advice of a qualified professional. It is my goal for the public to better understand their health and general well-being. I urge you to consult with a qualified health care provider for diagnosis and for treatment answers to your individual health questions.
